Our project on Jókai tér in Budapest's 6th district is a good example of how a small apartment can become a premium, functional and striking space. The flat was prepared for Airbnb, where an exclusive look and the guest experience are key, so the client wanted the right balance of design, privacy and sound dampening.
The goal: a small space, a smart solution
- separate the sleeping area from the living room
- provide high sound dampening
- keep the natural daylight
- maximum sense of space and elegance
Every XS-ALU project is custom made, and this one especially so:
- glass panels ground to custom angles
- aluminium profiles cut to angle for a perfect fit
- custom wall connection elements for precise installation
- glass-to-glass corner joint with minimal profiles
- a structural height of almost 3.5 metres (3,445 mm) and a 135° turn that gives the apartment a special spatial dynamic
The result: maximum glass, a clean look and more light.
Smart glass (PDLC film): privacy at the touch of a button
One of the most exciting elements was the switchable smart film (PDLC). The glass changes in an instant from clear to a frosted look, giving complete privacy, and is easily controlled by remote.
The principle: under voltage, the liquid-crystal molecules align and the glass becomes transparent. When the voltage is switched off, the molecules scatter randomly and the glass turns milky and opaque.
A special detail: thanks to cabling hidden in the sliding door track, the glass works both open and closed, so privacy can always be controlled with one move.

Sound-dampening interior glazing: an XS-ALU strength
Developing and building interior aluminium doors and glass walls with outstanding sound dampening is one of XS-ALU's main strengths. In this project it was essential that the sleeping area is truly separate, not only visually but acoustically.
Our custom aluminium glazed interior doors are made in our workshop in Győr and installed by our own team, mainly in Hungary, Austria (Vienna and surroundings) and Slovakia (Bratislava). Through our fabrication partners, our products are available in most European countries.
