During the renovation of an older apartment building in Budapest's 5th district, we were asked to design a partition between kitchen and living room that is beautiful, practical and works well acoustically. It was our second project with the same interior design team, which made it a particular pleasure.
The dilemma is a familiar one: the owners want to keep the space open and the daylight flowing, but kitchen noise and smells should not reach the living room. Our glazed aluminium partition systems are made for exactly this.
The chosen solution
We installed a Modulusz 50 slim-frame sound-dampening hinged door, combined with a transom and a fixed window, creating one elegant glass wall between the two rooms.
- black anodised slim aluminium profiles
- 8 mm clear toughened safety glass
- fixed frame on a parapet, divided into three with true divisions
- a design divider bonded to the glass at door-head height
- black hinges and a black handle
- automatic drop seal for better sound and odour dampening
The result is a characterful yet airy partition that does not close the space visually but clearly separates the rooms.
When function matters as much as design
A key requirement was that kitchen smells and noise should not reach the living room. Our door systems are developed for high sound dampening, which also significantly reduces the spread of odours. The owners enjoy a bright, open space while the living room stays calm and quiet.
Sustainable design
Alongside design and function, sustainability matters to us. Our interior partition systems are made partly from recycled aluminium, offering a durable, timeless and more sustainable choice.
Why Modulusz 50 is ideal for room division
The slim, elegant profiles recall the character of steel frames while allowing maximum glass area. Light flows freely between rooms, the space looks larger, and noise and smells stay under control: ideal for separating kitchen and living room, for offices or for organising modern apartments.
Our custom aluminium glazed interior doors are made in our workshop in Győr and installed by our own team in Hungary, Austria and Slovakia; through our fabrication partners they are available in most European countries. Request a quote.
